Plastic Profiles made of Polysulfon – PSU

PSU, short for polysulfone, PPSU, short for polyphenylsulfone, and PES, short for polyethersulfone, belong to the polyarylsulfones and are amorphous thermoplastic high-performance plastics. The plastics are characterized by high strength, stiffness, elongation at break and low creep. At the same time, PSU, PPSU and PES are very impact resistant and usually transparent. In addition, abrasion and sliding properties are good. Polyarylsulfones can be used in a temperature application range from -100°C to 200°C. Flammability is also very low.

Polyarylsulfone profiles are used for components that are subject to high mechanical and thermal stresses and especially when transparency is also required. Typical components made of PSU, PPSU or PES are used for switches, relays, electrical components and cable insulation. They are used in vehicle construction, aviation for household appliances and many other applications.

Binder + Wöhrle processes PSU, PPSU and PES in the field of plastic extrusion as well as plastic injection molding. B + W has different types in use and produces customized plastic pipes, hoses -profiles, -sheathings, ¬connections and much more in the diameter range of 0.5 – 50 mm.
