Plastic Profiles made of Polycarbonat – PC
Polycarbonate, or PC for short, is an amorphous thermoplastic characterized by high transparency. The transmittance is around 90% and describes the wave transmission of a medium. For this reason, PC, like PET, is often used as a glass substitute.
Considering the technical properties, this plastic combines the advantages of glass, metal and plastic. It exhibits high strength, impact resistance, stiffness and hardness. Especially compared to other transparent materials, technical properties such as stiffness and hardness are considered high. Plastic profiles, tubes, etc. made of polycarbonate are considered scratch-resistant. In addition, PC offers good insulating properties. Furthermore, polycarbonate can be combined very well with various blends such as ABS or PBT.
The areas of application for PC are plastic profiles, molded parts and housings for automotive headlights, panels for roofs, lenses for eyeglass lenses and much more.
Binder + Wöhrle processes PC in the field of plastic extrusion and injection molding. B + W has different types in use and produces customer-specific plastic tubes, hoses -profiles, sheathings, ¬connectors and much more in the diameter range 0.5 – 50 mm.
